Recover from a workplace injury with experienced WorkCover physiotherapists across 8 Sydney clinics. We bill icare and other workers compensation insurers directly, so there is no out-of-pocket cost for approved treatment. Same-week appointments available at every location.
Workers compensation physiotherapy supports people who have been injured at work, helping them recover from the injury and return safely to their job. In NSW, the workers compensation scheme covers treatment costs for eligible workplace injuries, including physiotherapy sessions delivered by SIRA-approved practitioners.
Whether you have strained your back lifting at a warehouse, developed a repetitive strain injury at a desk, or sustained an acute injury on a building site, you are entitled to access physiotherapy as part of your recovery. The same applies if you work full-time, part-time, or casually, and regardless of the industry you are in.
At iPhysio, our team has years of experience supporting WorkCover patients through every stage of their recovery. We work directly with your treating doctor, employer, and case manager to ensure your treatment plan is appropriate, evidence-based, and focused on getting you back to the work and life you love.
Navigating the NSW workers compensation system can feel overwhelming, especially in the days following an injury. Here is how the process typically works, and how our team can support you at each step.
Notify your employer as soon as possible after the injury occurs. Most workplaces have an incident report form for you to complete, documenting what happened, when, where, and how. Your employer is then required to notify their workers compensation insurer.
Visit your GP, or hospital if the injury is serious, to obtain a NSW Certificate of Capacity. This document records your injury, any restrictions on your work capacity, and the recommended treatment, including physiotherapy.
For most NSW workplaces, the insurer is icare, the NSW Government’s workers compensation scheme. Some employers use a specialised Claims Service Provider (CSP) instead. Either way, the insurer usually accepts provisional liability within 7 days, which means your treatment can begin while the claim is being fully assessed.
Once your claim has a number and provisional liability is in place, you can begin treatment with us. The first 8 physiotherapy sessions are typically pre-approved by the insurer, so no further paperwork is needed before you start. We bill your insurer directly, so there is no upfront cost to you.
If you need ongoing physiotherapy after the initial 8 sessions, your physiotherapist will submit an Allied Health Recovery Request (AHRR) to your insurer. This sets out your progress, your remaining recovery needs, and the proposed treatment plan. Most reasonable AHRRs are approved, allowing your recovery to continue without interruption.

If your specific injury is not listed above, contact your nearest iPhysio clinic. Our team treats a wide range of workplace conditions, and we are happy to discuss whether physiotherapy is appropriate for your situation.
Your first WorkCover appointment is a thorough initial assessment. Your physiotherapist will take a detailed history of your injury, examine the affected area, and discuss the physical demands of your job so your treatment plan is genuinely tailored to your situation.
Treatment is hands-on and active. Depending on your injury, your sessions may include:
We do not believe in passive treatment that drags on indefinitely. Our focus is on getting you stronger, more confident, and back to work as soon as it is safe to do so.
Returning to work after an injury is often the most important part of recovery, but it is also where things can go wrong if it is rushed or poorly planned. We work closely with your case manager, GP, and employer to develop a graded return-to-work programme tailored to your role.
This might involve:
Our goal is a sustainable return to work, not a rushed one that risks reinjury. Throughout the process we communicate proactively with everyone involved in your claim, so you have a clear path forward and a team supporting your recovery.
We accept WorkCover patients at every iPhysio Sydney location, so you can choose the clinic that is most convenient for your home, workplace, or treating doctor.
