What is NDIS Physiotherapy?

NDIS physiotherapy is physiotherapy funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme to help people living with a permanent disability improve their movement, manage pain, and live more independently. Rather than focusing only on recovery from a single injury, NDIS physiotherapy supports your broader functional goals, the everyday activities that matter most to you.

As a registered NDIS provider, iPhysio works with participants across Sydney to assess physical function, set meaningful goals, and deliver evidence-based treatment that builds strength, mobility, and confidence over time. Our physiotherapists take the time to understand your needs and tailor every session to help you get the most from your NDIS plan.

Whether your goal is to walk more confidently, move without pain, build the strength to manage daily tasks, or maintain the mobility you have, our team is here to support you at whichever of our 8 Sydney clinics is most convenient.

Who Can Access NDIS Physiotherapy?

If you are an NDIS participant and physiotherapy will help you work towards the goals in your plan, you can access NDIS physiotherapy with us. You do not need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist, so you can book directly at your nearest iPhysio clinic.

NDIS physiotherapy is generally appropriate for participants whose disability affects their movement, strength, balance, or physical function. This covers a wide range of neurological, musculoskeletal, and physical conditions.

To access the NDIS itself, you generally need to be under 65 at the time of your first plan, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities. If you are already an NDIS participant, the simplest next step is to get in touch with your nearest clinic, and we can talk through how physiotherapy fits with your plan.

How NDIS Funding Works for Physiotherapy

One of the most common questions we hear is how to actually use NDIS funding for physiotherapy. Here is how it works, and how being a registered provider makes things simpler.

We welcome participants under all three funding arrangements:

NDIA Managed (Agency Managed)

The NDIA pays your providers directly. Because this option can only be used with registered NDIS providers, you are free to choose iPhysio.

Plan Managed

A plan manager handles your invoices. We liaise with them directly, so your sessions are billed without you having to manage the paperwork.

Self Managed

You manage your own funding. We invoice you directly, and you claim the cost back through the NDIS.

Which part of your plan covers physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is funded under your Capacity Building budget, usually within the “Improved Daily Living” support category. This budget is set aside for allied health services that help you build skills and work towards your goals. If you are not sure whether your plan covers physiotherapy, bring your plan along or give us a call, and we can help you work it out.
